Digipub News India Foundation: the digital natives

Many websites pure-play or digital native news websites have come together to further their interests under the rubric of the DIGIPUB News India Foundation.

Incorporated in 2020, the organisation is helmed by Dhanya Rajendran of The News Minute as chairperson, with Ritu Kapur of The Quint and Abhinandan Sekhri of Newslaundry as general secretaries. Sujit Balakrishnan Nair, Aniruddha Bahal, Samar Halarnkar and Prabir Purkayastha are directors.

There are two kinds of membership offered by Digipub. Organisations or entities that “subscribe to the Values of DIGIPUB News India Foundation in Digital Journalism.”  Another type of membership is for individual journalist and/or the commentariat.

Prominent right-wing sites like OpIndia and Swarajya are conspicuous by their absence. Digipub insistence on stands up for constitutional values such as Justice, Social, Economic and Political; Liberty of Thought, Expression, Belief, Faith and Worship and so on should not be a dampener for these rightwing sites. Which one would assume any nationalist news organisation should not have a problem with.
