According to the entry on The Indian Express in Wikipedia, the daily’s digital foray began on 8 July 1996. A look at comScore’s list of the top news websites in India over the years shows that IndianExpress.com has been an important destination for news junkies in the country.
The content management system powering the website is WordPress VIP. IndianExpress.com is considered to be strong on SEO. A cursory audit of the website does reveal some chinks in its armour, which shouldn’t come as a surprise given that a lot of its content is still powered by the newspaper.
Almost 20% of the site had URLs that were longer than 115 characters. More than 80% of the pages titles were more than 60 characters, while as much as 8% of the pages were missing meta descriptions.
Nandagopal Rajan is the new media editor, while Raj Kamal Jha is the editor-in-chief of the daily.
